Overview
In this face-to-face training, learn how to become a champion for school age youth participating in afterschool and summer learning. Join the WV Statewide Afterschool Network to learn how to use the newly released Afterschool Champions Guide. Discover how to use these new resources to effectively tell your story and create connections to advocate for the importance of afterschool with decision makers, stakeholders, and families—and turn them into afterschool champions, too!
Objective
2.3  Provides families with opportunities to learn and develop skills to help children achieve desired outcomes within the program, at home, and in the community
2.3 a. Engages families in a variety of meaningful opportunities to influence their child’s care and education
2.3 c. Promotes interaction between families and community
2.3 g. Implements strength-based, family-centered practices that engage families in meaningful decision-making opportunities
6.6  Advocates for children, families, and the early childhood profession
6.6 g. Acts as a resource and advocates for community awareness of the current research and best practices impacting children and families
6.6 j. Uses experiences and knowledge to inform and influence others about the needs of all children, families, and the profession
