This session will focus on how to write meaningful, participation based Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) outcomes.  To successfully do this, early intervention teams must establish partnerships with families to ensure the outcomes support the family's hopes and dreams for their child and family within the context of the their daily activities and routines.  We will highlight a six step process to ensure IFSP outcomes are family friendly, yet specific to ensure accurate measurement of a child and family achieving the identified outcomes.

1.2.e. Works with families and related professionals to create goals for individual children and for groups of children
1.2.n. Contributes to writing, reviewing and/or implementing Individualized Family Service Plans/Individual Education Programs, when appropriate
2.1.b. Respects families as the most importance influence and decision-makers in a child’s life
2.1.j. Responds to sensitively to families concerns, ways of coping, and child-rearing practices
2.1.l. Engages in respectful, goal-oriented partnerships with families to promote parent-child relationships and family well-being
2.3.b. Empowers families to find ways to support their children as they develop (i.e., planning, goal setting)
2.3.g. Implements strengths-based, family centered practices that engage families in meaningful decision-making opportunities
6.2.b. Develops appropriate and positive relationships by engaging and responding to children, families, professionals, and community
6.2.d. Involves and works with others in planning, problem-solving, and implementing effective practices
6.2.i. Recognizes and respects individual strengths, differences, and viewpoints
6.7.b. Understands that children are best served through collaborations that impact children and families
6.7.i. Serves responsibly as a part of an interdisciplinary team, including participation in the IFSP/IEP process, according to appropriate policies and procedures and recommended practices
