Overview
Separation anxiety is hard on children as well as the adults in their lives. Don't Go! Taking the Anxiety Out of Separation will help define what separation anxiety is and review what it looks like in infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. It will review some ideas to help with the separation and support the families in the process.
Objective

1.3a. Understands and accepts children’s age-appropriate emotional responses (i.e., crying, tantrums) 

1.3d. Creates an environment and daily schedule that encourages trust and social interaction with other children and adults

1.4e. Creates an environment and provides strategies that help children: z Manage strong emotions and calm themselves z Focus their attention to remain actively engaged with activities and materials z Read the signals of the environment to learn how to respond appropriately z Cope with fear, anger, and frustration z Use language to share their needs z Consider the needs of others z Use problem-solving and conflict resolution strategies

4.1b. Seeks information from families regarding effective strategies to support individual children 

4.2a. Plans, implements, and adapts a supportive learning environment that promotes children’s safety, positive interactions, and behaviors
